Java Development Engineer Jobs

We are now looking for a Software Engineer who can help us to continuously improve Volue’s ability to provide value to customers in line with the Volue mission.

What you will be doing to make a difference:

• Designing and developing backend services in Java Spring Boot, forming the heart of a system that handles real-time transactions.

• Building and maintaining gRPC-connected Go microservices, contributing to a polyglot architecture where services communicate efficiently across language boundaries.

• Building asynchronous communication between services using message brokers, ensuring scalability and reliability of data exchange in an event-driven architecture.

• Developing and maintaining cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure

• Making a real impact on a product that supports the energy transition and shapes how energy is balanced on the markets of tomorrow.

What you need to succeed:

• Several years of commercial experience in Java backend development, with strong proficiency in Spring Boot for building microservices and server-client applications.

• Experience with or willingness to work in polyglot environments — particularly Go-based microservices communicating via gRPC.

• A solid understanding of SQL databases (ideally PostgreSQL) and experience with ORM frameworks.

• Experience working with message brokers (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) in distributed systems.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and containerized deployments.

• Proficiency in English; German language skills are a plus.

• Experience working in agile teams using Scrum or Kanban.

For this position (38.5 hours per week), the monthly minimum salary, as per the collective agreement (IT KV), is 3.954 EUR gross (14x annually, for full-time). Your actual salary will be individually negotiated based on your qualifications and experience.

We are looking to hire for Volue office in Vienna but will be ready to consider other locations for the right candidate.
