Your Mission: Drive high-stakes energy transactions from data room to signing. Your commercial insight and results focus will help investors and lenders make confident, value-creating decisions.
As Consultant – Transaction Advisory & Due Diligence, you will be at the heart of AFRY’s Transaction Services in Central and South-Eastern Europe. More specifically, your role will comprise:
- Lead and deliver commercial, market and technical due diligence assignments for investors, lenders and corporates across buy-side, sell-side, and (re-)financing transactions in the energy sector.
- Support the full transaction lifecycle — from investment strategy and target screening, through VDR/data-room reviews, management interviews, site visits and Q&A processes, to red-flag and full due diligence reports.
- Build robust techno-economic models, valuations and revenue/risk analyses to uncover and quantify value drivers, risks and deal-breakers.
- Provide sharp, actionable insight on CEE and SEE energy markets — renewables, BESS, grids, district heating, hydrogen and conventional generation.
- Actively drive business development: identify new transaction opportunities, prepare proposals, scope and fee calculations, and nurture relationships with investors, lenders, funds and corporates.
- Coordinate multi-workstream due diligence teams (commercial, technical, ESG, regulatory) and manage sub-consultants to deliver a seamless one-stop-shop for clients.
- Provide guidance, mentorship and technical expertise to analysts and junior consultants.
- Stay ahead of transaction trends, regulatory frameworks and market intelligence across the region.
Qualifications
Your Profile – What We Expect
We are growing our high-impact Transaction Services team and seek transaction- and results-driven professionals with a passion for deals and the energy transition. The ideal candidate brings:
- Above-average university degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Business, Finance, Energy, Engineering, or Mathematics/Statistics/Econometrics or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in transaction advisory, due diligence, corporate finance/M&A, or energy consulting — with a proven track record in energy and transaction advisory work being essential.
- Hands-on experience delivering commercial/market due diligence and transaction support, ideally for lenders and investors.
- Strong quantitative skills, with the ability to structure complex, abstract problems.
- Exceptional project-management skills, with the ability to deliver multiple fast-paced transactions simultaneously and to tight deadlines.
- A results-driven, entrepreneurial and deal-oriented mindset — you thrive under pressure and take ownership from mandate to closing.
- Very good command of the MS Office package, in particular Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to clients and stakeholders.
- Professional fluency in English (oral and written) is a must; additional Eastern European language skills (e.g. Bulgarian, Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Serbian/Croatian) are a clear advantage, and German knowledge would be very relevant in our business.
You are eager to support energy transactions but think you do not fulfil all of the above-mentioned criteria? Still, feel free to apply, as we strive to be open for new viewpoints and strengthen our multi-disciplinary approach.
