The Vienna Doctoral School of Pharmaceutical, Nutritional and Sport Sciences (VDS-PhaNuSpo), founded in 2020, offers state-of-the-art scientific training for doctoral students in all areas of pharmaceutical sciences, nutritional sciences, and sport science. It aims to attract excellent students from all over the world and guide them toward cutting-edge research in a lively and dynamic community in the heart of Europe.


The VDS-PhaNuSpo offers one completion grant of nine months for PhaNuSpo doctoral candidates in pharmacy at the University of Vienna. Applicants must have previously held a position as a university assistant (predoc) and be enrolled on the Doctoral Programme in Pharmacy at the University of Vienna. Recipients will be employed as university assistants predoctoral at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. At the time of application, work on the dissertation must be sufficiently advanced that the completed dissertation will be submitted by the end of the funding period at the latest.

Your future tasks:

As part of the MDT Laboratory, you will be involved in research into the interaction between small molecules and glycomimetics and their interaction with platelets. Hence, prior knowledge on biophysical assays such as multidimensional heteronuclear NMR as well as nanoparticle formulation and cell-based studies with a focus on platelets is a must.


You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

Your main task is to complete and to submit your dissertation

  • You meet and consult with your supervisor(s) on a regular basis in order to priorities your tasks and get the necessary support to complete your dissertation successfully in time
  • .
  • You participate in your department's and the Doctoral School activities and workshops
  • .
  • You participate in conferences and publish research results in peer-reviewed journals
  • .
  • You actively seek support (workshops, training, coaching etc.) if necessary
  • .

This is part of your personality:

You are a VDS-PhaNuSpo member and currently pursuing a doctoral degree in pharmacy at the University of Vienna

  • Excellent academic and study record (e.g. FÖP and doctoral thesis agreement within one year; annual submission of progress reports; outstanding publication record, etc.)
  • .
  • High level of motivation and commitment to succesfully complete your doctoral studies within the funding period
  • .
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (C1 Level), futhermore good command of XY, if necessar

  • Collaborative, team-minded and pro-active attitude
  • .
  • High level of written and oral communication skills
  • .
  • Experience with the structures of the University of Vienna
