Drink More Water, together we grow.
Here at waterdrop, we make drinking more water fun, convenient and most importantly, sustainable! Discover the world of innovative and eco-friendly hydration solutions with our fruity little cubes – Microdrinks – that save up to 98% plastic compared to drinks in 500ml plastic bottles and help score one for the planet. Our centrally-located headquarters offers a vibrant environment, featuring an on-site restaurant and gym, not to mention the opportunity to connect with prospective colleagues from all over the world. With a successful online presence, 40+ stores around the world, dedicated B2B partners and over 22,000+ retail and branded stores, we can’t wait to take this journey to the next level – with you!
We are seeking a freelance Product (UX/UI) Designer to join our team and support our hydration journey for 15-20 hours per week, preferably on a monthly retainer basis. In this role, you'll help shape the digital experiences that turn curious visitors into loyal waterdrop drinkers, designing intuitive, on-brand flows across our storefront, subscription, and account experiences. You'll work closely with our design, product, and engineering teams to bring complex journeys to life while respecting our design system down to the token.
You can work from our office in Vienna, hybrid or fully remote.
Your responsibilities at waterdrop:
-
You design complex transactional flows end to end, including subscription builders, subscription management, and account experiences, making the complicated feel effortless.
-
You work within our Design Language System, respecting existing tokens and component logic so everything you ship stays consistent and scalable.
-
You inform your design direction with discovery and user research, then validate complex flows with real users before they go live.
-
You partner with product and business teams, using metrics to shape decisions and measure whether your designs actually move the needle.
-
You support urgent design needs for product launches and time-sensitive campaigns, owning quality from first sketch to final handoff.
Your strengths and qualifications:
-
You have proven experience designing complex, transactional flows such as subscriptions, builders, and account management, and you sweat the edge cases as much as the happy path.
-
You're fluent in Figma, especially auto-layout, and comfortable working within (and extending) a mature design system.
-
You have a background in ecommerce or D2C brands and understand what makes people buy, come back, and stay.
-
You're data-savvy and comfortable working with business metrics to guide and defend your design decisions.
-
You bring experience with discovery, user research, and validating flows with users, designing from insight rather than assumption.
-
You have a working familiarity with CSS, so your designs are grounded in what's buildable.
-
You're self-directed, take full ownership of your projects, and thrive on detail and edge cases.
Nice to have:
-
Motion design experience.
-
Accessibility experience.
-
Familiarity with Shopify storefronts.
-
Experience using AI to build rapid prototypes.
